Weekly Tips to Help you Grow Your Speaking Business

Thursday, December 4th 2008 @ 7:00 PM    post viewed 417 times

A speaking business is like any other business, you must feed it, nurture it and spend time brainstorming on ways to grow it.

TIP #1: Mastermind for success

Surround yourself with like-minded individuals and meet with them at least bi-monthly to discuss goals, challenges and business building strategies. This is called masterminding and can really help keep you focused, accountable and connected. I'm meeting with my mastermind this weekend and we're planning to check into a hotel and mastermind for three days. We're an ambitious mastermind, one of my mastermind buddies Lethia is hosting the mastermind in her city and put together an event featuring all of us. If you're in St. Louis this weekend check us out.

TIP #2: Create an online Knowledge Board of Advisors

With the tons of resources available online, as an expert you should have them available at your fingertips. You can follow experts via ezines, blogs, social media sites and RSS feeds, etc. Put everything in one place and organize it for quick reference. I went a step further and organized a group of experts for professionals in transition and I will reveal this group to you later this month. Stay tuned....

TIP #3: Create and nurture relationships via social media

I love the social media websites, my favorites are facebook and twitter. I find them to be personally and professionally beneficial. Catch with old classmates and friends while connecting with new people. Do not just accept a person, thank them for inviting you to connect, check to see if you have friends or colleagues in common and look at their website and see if you can help each other in any way. I know you're thinking when, I do not have time, designate about three times per week for one hour. Post a comment to a top persons wall in your industry, I call them "friends in my head" and all of sudden several of their fans, colleagues, etc will connect with you. it's unbelievable. Until Next week!!

Members this month is all about preparing for a strong 2009! Get ready to end the year writing your report card and begin the year with attainable.
