What is a VA?(Virtual Assistant) Part 3
By the time you read this post, the 4th Annual Online International Virtual Assistants Convention’s (OIVAC) Conference is over. It was held October 1-3, 2009. The entire conference was done online. This conference was a great experience and I will share information with you in a future post. So let’s finish this series about “What is a VA?”
I want you to understand the difference between working with a Virtual Assistant Professional and Working with an Employee. So look at the money you can save.
By hiring a Virtual Assistant, you can save over $40,000 per year!
Hourly rate of pay:
$15.00
$30.00
Fringe benefits @ 35%: 9
$5.25
None
Overhead rate @ 50%:
$7.50
Total effective rate of pay:
$27.75
Hours per year**:
2,080
480
Total annual labor cost:
$57,720.00
$14,400.00
You can see the difference = $43,320 per year!
Although the Virtual Assistant's hourly rate is more than the employee's rate in the first place, you save the cost of benefits and overhead that would have to be applied to the new employee's wage. And, because Virtual Assistants are usually more experienced, more efficient, and better connected than the employee, you'll need to devote far less time to the project to get the same results: an average of 480 hours a year versus 2,080 for the new employee. **Remember, with a Virtual Assistant, you only pay for the time on task by the minute! No more paying for socializing, hour-long lunches, or frequent trips to the restroom. Your employee's 8-hour day can be crunched into 3-4 hours with a Virtual Assistant.

So as a Speakerpreneur saving money is a major key. You can engage a Virtual Assistant for the tasks you need and for the time and at a rate that you can afford.
